Lucas wrote SW from a left perspective. It's a fantasy, dramatic and stylized version of reality. His writing wasn't prophetic, he simply understood what other, more intelligent economists and philosophers like Karl Marx had already explained as the outcome of bourgeois democracy.
The saddest thing is you're not exactly wrong. I mean those movies SUCKED to watch but even fucking Attack of the Clones had a better understanding of politics than the average American seems to.
It turns out showing up looking like a bucket of crème fraîche and lunch meat someone left under a heat lamp for half a year to declare that there's totally an emergency and you should be made emperor of the galaxy actually WORKS. I owe George Lucas an apology.
