Apps diminished the value of websites while decreasing privacy and increasing costs. All apps do is put a more controlled interface over web assets. They also try to trap you and your data in the app. I try to avoid them.

I generally agree that apps are bad for these reasons but they do have the extremely substantial positive of often having a ux that doesn't feel like clunky, slow dogshit, something I have never seen on a mobile website pretty much ever in my life
Bluesky on a mobile browser is okay in terms of how it feels except that I can't reach literally any of the buttons to switch feeds or go to notifications etc w/ one hand on a smartphone. The app has most of the buttons at the bottom as God intended and the ones at the top can be avoided by swiping
I'm confused, I'm on web right now and the notifications button is at the bottom. I pulled up a screenshot of the mobile app and the layout looks identical? It's literally the same codebase.
Oh weird, when I was using the website earlier those buttons didn't load, probably just a one off bug or networking issue. That solves that I guess. Still annoying to not be able to swipe between feeds though
