Yes but heating the green houses is a lot easier in The Netherlands since their winters are not nearly as cold as they are here. And there will probably protests from environmentalists about light pollution 😉

It’s not that cold in Nova Scotia. Quite a bit warmer than Ontario and there’s lots of greenhouse operations there.
There’s a vertical greenhouse facility on Digby Neck that’s quite productive.
There is a trick to all that☺️ Now you would need to go a bit deeper into the ground the further north you go, but this ground based greenhouse style combined with solar heating and wind maybe and we could truly start creating something🤔☺️🇨🇦❤️
Plants need to sleep, too, apparently - the lights wouldn't be on 24/7.
And we certainly have a lot of glass buildings that need heating, already. (Not sure they're suitable without a lot of retrofitting.) 🤷♀️
I been thinking about this for a long time 🤔
Build green house partially in ground and have insulated curtains for night when no sun🤔 or use abandoned mines across Canada? Temperature is constant at certain depths and solar lights during the day and store some for overnight 🤔

I’m thinking I read something about this? A while ago?Seedlings probably won’t need a lot of light till they are established? Just thinking in a forest🤔Constant temperature and humidity probably constant 🤔So many benefits but I think the far north it would be possible to grow veggies for community’s
So I’m surprised how many there are but the one from CBC caught my eye✌️not the Arctic by to interesting not to share🤔
Never thought about farming potatoes on a mountain🤔There is another about indie Alaska some lady determined to grow vegetables for her community ✌️
Lufa Farms in Montréal is doing very well, and they’re getting bigger all the time. They presently supply about 2% of Montréal’s food and their goal is to provide 10% for the entire province. They have been innovative.
It’s not arctic like in the south coast of BC. There can be lots of fruit and produce produced in interior BC and grapes for instance can be refocused away from wine and back into eating. We can do a lot in Canada to feed ourselves. We did in the past!!
