While everything you said is factually true, it’s presented way too simplistically. The sikh canadian you’re referring to, Hardeep Singh Nijjar, is a complicated figure. He was far from a democracy activist, he had a history of involvement in terrorist activities in India.

Indian agencies were after him, so he fled to canada using a fake passport and repeatedly tried to seek asylum, only to be rejected multiple times. He even married a canadian woman to secure citizenship but was denied again.

Mysteriously, he later got citizenship, but the canadian government has refused to explain how or why. The sikh separatist movement itself is incredibly complex, with a lot of players involved.

Nijjar had an Interpol Red Corner Notice issued against him for over a dozen criminal cases, including murder and terrorism. Despite India sharing this info, Canada didn’t take much action. They only put him on a no-fly list and left it at that.
