I mean we kind of established this when people wanted Obamacare repealed, despite being on Obamacare health coverage because they didn’t know it was the same as the affordable care act.
A fair amount of that wide swath have IQs that struggle to rise above room temperature. We need smarter better media but this like trying to grow crops on a parking lot.
The takeaway here is a lot of people don't really know what it is just by name, but "Efficiency" sounds pretty good, while "Elon Musk is doing this" sounds very bad.
Doge is a dumb name. Dems should never use it, and when you see it in the press replace it with "Elon Musk's closing down whole departments and firing Americans" BTW, "Elon Musk" is a weird ass name too.
Everyone already knows this. Everyone intuitively knows what to do to make their bosses think they're working or their parents think they're studying. The world goes around based on cues people register as stand-ins for things, and rather than act flippant about it Dems need to campaign accordingly.
It’s just demoralizing that such incompetent people can be presidential cabinet members, head up government organizations, have so much power and money. While I have decades of expert experience, do my job with skill, then make $24/hr and try to get by.
On the right, ignorance is a matter of personal pride. On the left it is used to signal distain for the lack of a progressive voice. Either way it produces the same outcome - an electorate unprepared for the reality it faces. There are no low information voters, only lazy voters.
This entire administration is unfit or unqualified to do the job they have been given. It infuriates me that for the rest of US to get a JOB we have to go through ALL the red tape and jump ALL the hoops to prove ourselves qualified while the ppl running the country are fucking stupid!!!
This just proves how easily public perception is manipulated. People don’t even realize it’s the same thing under different names.
Maybe instead of reacting to labels, we should start paying attention to what’s actually being done.
musk is succeeding in driving the narrative of what doge really is and what they are doing. We need democratic leadership (if it exists) to be out on tv and podcasts and town halls educating people in simple terms as to what musk is doing. Take the narrative back!
listening to NPR today and no one being able to say "they have your SSN" bc they were too busy talking about "payment systems" and I almost drove off the road.
Less "critical thinking" and more "information overload". Most people are not hyperonline and consuming news media every waking hour, just those of us with anxiety.
But surely if someone just made up a government department, called it the Dept of Rain and it was just one dude pissing off an overpass in broad daylight, they'd probably have heard about it, right? Because that is almost literally what is happening.
If this guy was constantly hanging out in the oval office and making headlines several times a day then yes, I'd assume people would have heard about it

I mean, it’s depressing, but dark comedy may be all we have left.
