I've noticed on long-running browser sessions, youtube on firefox can get in a state where the whole UI pauses for a second or three every few seconds (tho videos still play fine). Restarting firefox fixes it, or finding the process for that tab and killing that process directly sometimes fixes it.

Have you checked out the about:memory when running YouTube, its wild.

Also from there you can manually run garbage collection

I wasn't aware of that, but I'll check it out. Maybe GC will help when that's happening? If it does and saves me a firefox restart/process kill when it happens, that'll be nice. When killing the proc directly, I can usually identify it by crazy high cpu, incidentally.

I'm glad I'm not the only one, just navigating the interface without a video playing has gotten so slow it feels like 1999
