The Reps/Conservatives have been after Social Security, with the intention of privatizing it, for decades. This is sooo backward. It's not a government handout. We pay for it. I've been paying into it for over 50 years. As have many millions of others.

Well even once you get on Medicare you still are paying for Medicare. There is a premium you have to pay, it's deducted out of my SS before I get it. I could get private health insurance (no co-pays) as a foreign resident in the EU for less than I pay for Medicare

Medicare is insurance. We pay a monthly premium for it just like everyone else who has insurance. I pay in more annually than is paid out to cover my annual checkup.
