I feel very similar. My parents are liberal but so many other people we grew up with and went to church with are not and it feels like I wasted so much time learning how to be a "good" Christian because they have decided to ignore all of the things that make you one.
Oh you are, just not THOSE people. Or THOSE people. Nope, not them either. Care about the feelings of rich white men because they're the only people that matter.
The problem many “Christians” in America face is that so many other Americans care about brown people. That’s what they can’t put up with. Treating brown people like human beings.
I've learned most American christians don't want anything to do with the Christ who is the namesake of their faith. When he said love thy neighbor they took it to mean their literal white next door neighbor. They prefer the bloody vitriol of the old testament. -- from a born-again agnostic.
