I would start there then. You already have the desire to play it and that adds to the fun. As you probably know, these games are standalones so it doesn't matter which one you start with. If you end up liking it, play another in any order👍

You should absolutely play whatever game you want first. Release order could actually be to your detriment, as playing that many epically long RPGs can be a grind that may prevent you from reaching some of the greats.

Just do it!! I started with 8. It’s not like any of the FFs connect to one another anyway (unless they’re direct sequels like X-2, XIII-1,2,3) so you’re fine to start anywhere!

As someone who has played several FF games…I say start with the one you want to start with. My first was OG FFVII many many years ago. FFX is also fantastic 😊

Most fans will recommend that you do not go in chronological order. But FFX is a great one to start with.

Yeah, with FF in particular it's a "pick as you please" kinda thing. Also, the earliest games often didn't age well, 2 in particular, so it's not a huge loss to skip to, I dunno,4? 6?

Each mainline FF takes place in a different world, different story, different characters etc - so it doesn’t matter which one you start with - my first was FFX and it was the best thing ever - highly recommend for newbies into FF :)

Yeah my original thought process was to go by release order and watch how the series evolves but the ones I really wanted to play are like from 6-present so going thru 1-5 doesn’t feel like a good idea anymore.

So, I may just jump around the series. FFX sounds like an excellent starting point

Honestly go in whatever order you feel like - I always recommend to play each as everyone has a differing opinion on how they liked/disliked the game/s - so it’s always good to get your own perspective

If you do want to see progress - definitely do this for FF7 and it’s compilation….

It was my first, and I’m still glad it was. It opened up a whole world of games to me that I hadn’t seen before. It’s still in my favorites, but I do think 7 beats it out by a small margin.

I always tell people to start there because it's got the best of everything the series offers. From there, you can look at others and see if any catch your eye because they're all different in various ways even if it's very minor. But you won't go wrong with FFX.
