A lot of Americans forget what a scourge TB was here; my mom grew up in rural Kentucky, she put together a list once of her family and like 13 out of 15 family members died of TB, including her mother who coughed up so much blood one night, she died from it at 36.

I watched S2.Ep 6 of Call the Midwife last night. A central storyline was of a family that lost FIVE children to TB. In London in the 1950s.

I don't think Americans realize what a global catastrophe - which WILL come here - multi-drug-resistant TB is.

My husband was exposed to TB as a paramedic in the Midwest and had a lengthy course of treatment to prevent an active infection. He said that there was a hidden epidemic of TB, with few realizing how close they were to it. That was in the early 2000s.
