My very first library job in my 20s was at a federal research facility where I learned about all the amazing research (with tangible results that improved lives) government employees worked on and dammit we can't lose that.

I was the law librarian at Justice Canada in Calgary, until Harper decimated libraries in Western Canada. He closed the Calgary Library. It was a small specialized library and I loved working in it. He centralized libraries. The lawyers I supported were very upset with the closure.
I’d be really interested in learning what kind of research you speak of! Please share with the world! I don’t know where to start to find that info for myself. I do, however, have friends who are HS civics teachers that could then share this with their students.
Plant breading for resistance to salinity or drought, disease management, food safety, insect management, nutrient uptake…. There aren’t enough characters. For every $1 invested in ag research generates $20 of economic gain and food security!
