I need to save more seeds from the garden. I get a lot of volunteer tomatoes, and save a Kent pumpkin for the seeds, but I could totally get enough okra seeds to use the next year.
It’s worth it…if it keeps your mind free and clear of stupidity…
get a lotus 🪷 plant…
It is known to bloom in worst of conditions…will remind you to persevere even in today’s atmosphere…good luck
I only found out about them late last year (December maybe?) and I got 30 varieties of seeds for a $20 donation. The website is horrible and the rules for how to submit is ugh, but it’s legit!
..what appears to be grass growing, then pull up ball of ‘grassy greens’ and swish in bucket of water to separate the tiny stems with their roots and plant those individually=lifetime regeneration of Leeks. Sorry, I could go on and on about gardening 🥰 but have fun! It was my therapy today🌱💗
Do you struggle with Cabbage Moths? The worm-stage just decimates the cruciferous vegetables here. I finally learned to cover with tulle-like fabric but those clever moths somehow find ways to keep sneaking in there laying eggs🤨 zone9b, with some micro niches
..also, veg with roots: cut bottom of veg just above roots when you harvest and stick that right back in the ground. If you let a Leek mature and it sends up a puffy ball that flowers, let it flower/become dead-ish, and stick the whole deadish flower puffy head in a bucket of soil, until you see..
Don’t give up! Some are slooooow, some like a little heat, others like a chill first, while some enjoy an overnight soak, others prefer a little peel away of the outer layer.
And, save seeds from this year’s crops! Some may not actually produce the true fruit/veg that was the mother plant, tho.
Nice!! It’s hard for me to thin/discard like is often recommended, so usually I transplant extras into little old yogurt containers and set them out front for passers by, but then end up finding space Somewhere in the yard if no one takes them😂
