Also worth noting that UKRI fellowships are also open to International applicants. These are 'first group leader' positions (you have a mentor but are the PI). NERC is early March, BBSRC usually in May. Think you can add visa/relocation as costs on the application. And of course Liverpool is grand!

The biggest beneficiary of the new MAGA crusade to defund scientific research will be Canada.

The short term impact in the USA will mostly be hardship for people working in sciences.

The longer term impact will be a decline in innovation in the USA economy as other countries gain an edge.

Man I hope so. Not that I hope for the decline of American science, but rather that Canada can see the opportunity and seize it. I'd love to return to a Canada that's become a scientific powerhouse.

Or say... Canada has intl-friendly Postdoc Banting fellowships, competitive with 🇪🇺 Marie Curie, EMBO, or 🇨🇭 Swiss SNSF.

Again, maybe on the nose... If you're worried about safety when say... EDI is being outlawed, know there are options. 🏳️‍🌈
