Yesterday, across from Ebenezer Baptist Church—just days before MLK Day, when crowds will gather to honor justice and equality—a homeless man was killed during an encampment sweep by an Atlanta city vehicle.
These sweeps are cruel, brutal, and utterly counterproductive in addressing homelessness.

Another unhoused man who present during the sweep said: "They did not go to one tent. One tent!—to check and see if somebody was in there. They are negligent, and regardless how society try to judge us, we are somebody. He was somebody's son!"
No words.
This is like if I closed my eyes and floored it while driving a semi on the highway, but didn't want to be blamed or face consequences when I ran someone off the road.
He was murdered by the state.

Never forget all of these people claim to be 'christians.' When JC specifically said "take care of the poor," and said nothing about abortion or gays.
"The purpose of a system is what it does."
