You can get it here, it requires the original unmodified ROM. Just be aware that it still has the bugs from the original build and it can crash in some occasions.

The rom has already been dumped, so it's already preserved. I know that de/recompilations are much MUCH harder than getting the roms to run flawless emulators, including systems as finicky as N64.

I have been told that the Kirby 64 recomp has a game breaking bug that probably needs to go before it goes public but there’s a lot to be excited for.

Quite a few recomps I’m holding out for, including Conker’s Bad Fur Day, DK64, Rocket on Wheels and Blast Corps.

Will this make restoring the game to an intended fully playable state easier? How much of the game was unfinished by Rare, and how difficult would it be to patch up what could have been? I've seen some fair gameplay of DP before and it looks like a lot of pieces are in place, just lots of crashing.

There's still plenty of things that are unfinished, while some things are missing completely, it will never truly be fully playable from start to finish. People could probably make their own stuff based on it though, I'd imagine.

most of what was broken has already been patched by the community and the game is in a significantly more playable state than it was back in 2021! that said, the ROM was incomplete to begin with, so there is certainly some missing content no matter how you slice it, unfortunately.

Hmm but if custom level creation is possible, and if there are like voice lines in the game that seem to be related to not yet implemented levels, you think it's possible fans would make an approximation of it? Maybe taking the released GC game as a sort of guide?

this question gets asked a lot and it's hard to give a good answer to. on the one hand, it's definitely possible, but 1) it's an enormous amount of work, and 2) many fans view DP as its own game with its own identity separate from SFA, and would be opposed to using SFA to fill in the gaps
