Apparently it is bad logic to play the man not the ball, but I decided a while ago that policies mean nothing if they are being advertised by bastards. Vote for the person you like. You won't go far wrong.

Time was when politics was populated by people of principle - they joined parties that cleaved to those principles but you voted for the person, not the party, because it was led by someone with principles you agreed with.
Now it's greasy-pole climbers and those with an eye for the main chance.

I think it’s hard to do party politics when the parties switch positions as they have, it’s important to keep to the principles you believe in, not move because a party has.

I never did party politics. I chop and change, always have. (Apart from anything else, parties policies change with the leader.)

I'd be a nightmare as a politician, I'd be booted out every ten minutes.

I don't often vote to my conscience, I'm too far left, but I'll always vote against the Nazi.

You describe my view of my vote. Some would call me a floating voter, probably as a derogatory term. I like to think that it gives me a little more power in our FPTP 2 party democracy. A democracy that hasn't evolved in my opinion. I trust Starmer. But a weak opposition isn't good for the UK imo.

PS. The dogs have killed another rat last night. The border collie obeying her instincts I suppose. They still can't catch the squirrels though. We have a dog door so they come & go as they want in our [fenced] back garden. Squadron scramble when a squirrel runs along the back fence Looney tunes 🤣.
