Since many are asking, Taco Bell's "Wild Sauce" was a flavorful, spicy red hot sauce, served warm. It debuted in 1992, and Taco Bell promoted it as essentially taking the flavor of their products to the next level. They even made promotional shirts!
Here's a copycat recipe for anyone interested, though, as the comments make very clear, be sure to add some cilantro (and a touch of soybean oil if you have it), because that's apparently the secret ingredient that gave Wild Sauce its distinctive flavor https://www.food.com/recipe/taco-bell-wild-sauce-298543
Thanks for this because I was very confident that I'd imagined there being Mild and Wild back when I lived in a dorm with a Taco Bell on the ground floor, because that didn't exist any more a decade later when I overcame the trauma from that situation and ate there again willingly.

also HOLY FUCK IT WAS SO GOOD
I miss onions on things. I also remember why they pulled them off everything...

Like, we did this weekly for 2 years. My stomach hurts just talking about it. But I'd do it without a second thought given the chance.
