In contrast, #NLProc was very marginalized for the first 30 years of #NeurIPS. Despite some attempts to raise the profile of language, there was little interest and little presence.

For example, for 2015–2018, there was a total of 1 NLP-centered tutorial across the whole 4 years.

and the versions of #NLProc, its tasks or metrics, that _are_ published are often caricatures. cf. “fairness”, “retrieval”. but this all happens in a lot of work between disciplines.
