Great job! You started: That's more than most folks do. It does get faster and sometimes the tool does make a difference. I spin faster on a cross arm spindle than on a top whorl spindle. A project chronicling your progress is a great idea. Mine was a shawl.

In general, the lower weight helps it keep going longer but there’s just something intangible that seems like it works better with my hands & I’m more efficient? A few people I know said they found cross arms easier to learn on too. I learned on a wheel and took up spindle spinning later.

You can do both too! Spindles are great for walking around & spinning - I spin at the grocery store - it helps me remember & stick to the list. Wheels are super effective when you can be stationary. Most days, I spin more on spindles than a wheel because being stationary isn’t possible.
