Trident in UK service doesn't utilise codes to arm or launch.
So here's a question that I've not seen asked about in the current world clusterfuck regarding the uk. If America is no longer a reliable partner, what happens regarding our nuclear deterrent (Trident) regarding launch codes? One for you, @GuyDorrellEsq

There are many articles about the independence of Trident. I'm certain that the questioning of that will become more frequent this week
However, the issue now is that the support required for UK to maintain this US weapons system is now in doubt. Overnight this has made Trident obsolete as a strategic deterrent.
It's a cold hard fact that there are no external requirements, reason, authorisation that the PM needs from any country to direct the launch of the strategic nuclear deterrent.
"There will be ways to mitigate this if/when required"
Did you just pull that out your ass?
What do you claim?
But that's really an argument for another era. Post-Trump, the question is how can UK maintain a US weapons system.
Even if the UK had the technical ability to launch an attack against US wishes (that's not clear) it does not have the political freedom to do so.
"Operational independence" is a phrase which is only used to deceive the public.
Probably clever enough to vote Reform?
However the point now is that US support is in doubt and UK cannot maintain Trident - a US weapons system - without it. Overnight it has been rendered obsolete.
The solved riddles reveal the precise locations of the pieces.
Only when all 4 pieces are united may the ignition key turn.
To maintain the missiles the UK would have to be able to build every part. Even if it had the ability, would a govt agree to the cost? "Cheap" Trident already a strain on budget.
