Great piece, thanks for bringing it to my attention. I think regardless, the core problem for boxing is 'what level of head-hitting and above-average dementia are we saying is *good*, exactly?'

Olympic boxing should be like other Olympic combat sports - e.g. taekwondo or fencing - where they wear headgear and chest padding with sensors on and also on the gloves, and any contact scores a fully-automated point.
If you want to go further, if a boxer is hurt, disqualify their opponent.
as a bit of an amateur boxer, I agree. Boxing fits so many Olympic ideals: pure athleticism, humble dedication, huge daily sacrifice, and yet you're trying to inflict lasting paiin to get your bit of metal. Then again, feel priority is to get rid of dressage, for living things that cannot consent.
Dressage, once you ban the whip and spurs (which should be illegal; pain should not be allowed as a training tool) is the least problematic of the equestrian events. Horses don't break legs in dressage, unlike showjumping or cross country.

Fundamentally "this boxer going into the ring wasn't safe" is not news
