Not to give away any newsroom secrets, but it's easier to report accurately on Elon Musk when your brain isn't wired into Elon Musk's propaganda machine 10+ hours a day.

Did you catch the X video scam? A Musk DOGE video automatically runs right after you play any video. For ex, if I watch a Rupar video, at the end a DOGE video plays.
The number of stories I see that basically summarize Musk's tweets when federal employees are willing to speak in unprecedented numbers is a little weird!
I think that reading tweets probably provides a very convincing illusion of having real access or doing investigative journalism.
Reporters can ask a question directly and play the lottery of getting a reply—hoping for a crumb of information that they can either easily refute or report as-is.
I’m curious to know how much money Elon has paid into social security for his employees? Does he avoid that matching contribution that all other companies do by hiring HB1 workers.
i deactivated night of the election. and was embarrassed it took me so long. whoever is still there and decent won’t be decent much longer. do good and leave
Why have reporters not left? Do they avoid Bluesky bc they think it’s too partisan? Well, what the fuck would you call that Nazi place they can’t quit?
I think it’s at least partly because they still get more views & clicks & ‘engagement’ on X, even if a lot of those engagements might just be bots & trolls. Also being able to read Elon or Trump’s mental diarrhea directly on social media seems like “access” to many journalists.
And reporters here tell us about the massively better engagement they get. The significant click-through differentials. It might be the follower counts and inertia alone holding them in the Nazi bar
I think a lot of people go wrong when they start from the assumption that newsrooms are truly motivated by a desire to report accurately on Musk, and Trump, and the GOP generally.
Just imagine how hard it is for a “civilian” to discern truth, lie, opinion, nuance etc while exposed to Elon, Fox News et al 10 hrs a day for several decades.
also when you get to BlueSky, you realize how much you were shadow-banned on 'X' (dumbass name) for the past two years when all the sudden people are responding again
Twitter has made reporters incredibly lazy. They no longer need to find competent sources to interview. For the last 10 years they just quote a couple of tweets from some randos and call it journalism

Then, you can report accurately on Musk because your brain is wired into the oil industry propaganda machine 24/7!
buries or removes their articles if Musk or Trump disagrees with their content;
directs crazy people at them - literally even to their homes;
openly promotes fascism and calls for the end of a free press.
Just to be clear.

Trump’s MAGAs are a redux of Hitler’s Nazis = psychopaths (1 in 25 persons in the general population) & their psychotic human pets.
