Alisaie shoots a coy look back, chuckling softly. "Because it wasn't that long ago that you would have asked for aether in return," she says with a half shrug. "So, at the risk of seeming like I'm fishing for compliments... why did you?"
Zero awkwardly glanced away, tipping the hat further down her face. "...Perhaps last time you gave me aether, you gave too much and I am simply paying it back...." She paused.
"...But perhaps there is... value in...helping... allies. Simply because that is how... unspoken social contracts work."
Alisaie smiles brightly, and one might mistake her look for smugness - but there's a degree of fondness in her eyes, as well. She glances away, trying not to make either of them feel any more awkward. "Allies," she repeats with a soft chuckle, "Or, you know... I like to think we're friends. Maybe."
She glanced over at her before looking up to the sky again, sigh contentedly. It was nice being around someone so quiet, getting to simply enjoy the moment. "Well if there's anything on your mind, you know you can talk to me about it. I'll hear you out." She said softly.

"Why would I not? But you are welcome, all the same." she flashes an awkward smile.
