To add, seems to me that Musk is not trying to shrink the government or reduce government spending. He's using his access to extract information and install controls in government systems at all of the key digital control points in the federal government

This is the most plausible explanation I’ve heard, so far.

P2025 had been in the works for longer than we realize, and Musk was never really a part of it. Suddenly, at the 11th hour of Trump’s campaign, Musk inserted himself into it by injecting a huge amount of $. He’s trumped Trump.

Not implausible... Musk's grandad was once a supporter of a guy up here in Canada that before and during WW2 believed democracy to be a failure and that people should be ruled by knowledgeable technocrats (white of course).
