Thank you for the credit to 5th graders— my own described tariffs this morning: “it’s a tax you put on things from other places. It’s supposed to make you want to buy American stuff, but we don’t make a lot of what the tariff taxes are on so it’s kinda dumb. Like, who taxes themselves on purpose?”
