I took my spouse to my coworker's holiday party today. The demographic was all 60+ seniors. I have never had conversations this insightful and engaging with strangers.

Everyone cared about the spelling and pronunciation of our names, asked for our perspectives on the topic of conversation, made sure we were fed and comfortable. I felt like my presence was genuinely appreciated.
And don't get me wrong, as a neurodivergent and anxious person, I totally understand the importance of being antisocial sometimes. I just hope it doesn't hold us back from having these experiences more often. Smalltalk can lead to good things.
Seeing them interact with each other was even more endearing. These people gave each other the most thoughtful and loving gifts. Everyone's disabilities were taken into account, of course. I received one of my favorite gifts this year from a practical stranger, who knew close to nothing about me.
