My wife went from a trump sceptic in 2016 to a non-voter in 2020 to full MAGA after the pandemic and insurrection. Now I’m not permitted to discuss politics in my own house.
No communication with my husband's sister, a medical doctor, and our only living relative since 2015. She and her husband are diehard MAGA. Too bad,but much better for our health and well-being.
I had to convince two of our kids to remain civil with their mom when they gathered for Christmas. Seems they did. I don’t recall such angry partisanship in the past. So sad.
Other very good friends, both attorneys, woman with unknown political leanings, but husband (MIT grad), went off the rails MAGA. We had to stop talking to them in 2018. Your brain wants to burst.
Tony 💔. Our best friends: Husband is a republican strategist(tv personality). He was born in a MAGA mecca of the state. His wife is liberal. It's not my husband (thank God), but we have had LONG periods where we didn't speak to them bc of his views.
Good Morning!!! It’s been a while, but I sought you out, today. Hope all is well, despite the obvious. I’ve gotta tell you, I read this post, and I am floored. What… after the insurrection? Also, read Child of God, C McCarthy’s 3rd novel. It’s not a must read, quite different in content, yet simila
Where is she with the bludgeoning of our government, by theocrats - how he wants the process to be even more aggressive - and our lack of appeal with our allies? The removal of safety nets and opportunities for your children? Wow, this was shocking to me. How are the boys, and Teddy?
similar in certain thematic structure. From what I’ve read in his oeuvre, it’s my least favorite, but thought provoking, nonetheless. Read Demon Copperhead with a discussion group. Great story telling on Kingsolver’s part - though of course she had an excellent blueprint to follow - important
Narrative for the modern-day reader. After discussing it, my thoughts on it changed a little. It was good book, had some issues with pacing, and I found myself comparing it David Copperfield, all too often. Kingsolver hits all the marks, except for zeal in the characters.
