Imo a much more sensible response is a quick inquiry into the intellectual property parts of AUSFTA with a view to repealing anything that's not in Australia's narrowly defined interest. If we're not getting the market access we expect under our US FTA, they shouldn't get the IP provisions.

Proportional responses matter in politics. Yelling that AUKUS subs should be scrapped over meaningless steel/aluminium tariffs is yelling at clouds. But if you wanted to get rid of it, ag/pharma/machinery/component tariffs worth much much more would be cover.
