The number of hotel rooms available are so plentiful where bookings are at an all time low, even with the inauguration.
Some of the B&B and DC hotels I stay at regularly when I am in town, offered discounts as much as 30%.
So...it is NOT the weather.

I work in construction and it’s been full of the Trump crowd for the last several years. But it’s been aggressively quiet. Some of the guys who were big maga dudes have been vocally unhappy with Trump since the election. It’s weird.

When Kamala announced her candidacy, I began my search for a hotel for the inauguration. It was insane. If I could find anything near DC it was overpriced x10. Finally found & booked two rooms on the outskirts near the end of the Metro line. Cancelled the rooms when she lost.

I did exactly the same - on the Monday/day after Biden quit the race, I got my rooms for 1 week and train tix I found rooms in College Park - easy to get to from Union Station.
Was so happy for 100+ days!

2am Nov. 6 cancelled everything. Complete turnaround and not expecting the outcome at all.

Here’s what I did. I looked up the hotel we always stay at in Crystal City when we go to DC. There was nothing available when I looked in Nov. Today, 5 available at a price about 2/3 of what we normally pay. There were others I looked at & not avail in Nov & today avail at a reduced price.
