Male Powerful Owl in suburban Brisbane. We were both a bit surprised, me by where he was roosting, & he that I was there. Fortunately, I backed off quickly & he was fine. You realise how much you don't actually see, even when it's right in front of you, when looking for owls

I live in West Virginia and our holler has many barred owls (we converse often) and other species as well
They are fascinating friends that I thought I would never have

I was following a breeding pair for a few years as part of my job and and used to find the yearlings perched in the wierdest places after leaving their parents.
We could collect the pellets from right underneath the low tree the babies were perched in without being attacked. The only hazard was slipping on intestines.
