People got so used to replies being filled with anger that they crave it. Balanced and calm debate can happen on a site like this but Twitter broke our brains into thinking if it wasn't 'spicy' it wasn't a debate.
I don't want tension or anger. I want adults in the room with respect and empathy.

I got so used to the sheer brain rotting irony in Twitter, that when I didn't find it here, I thought I disliked it.
What I didn't realize is it's just people being passionate about what they love. Something I can do too!
- "So, what you're saying is, you HATE waffles ?!"
😂
Social media with character limit is just a bad space for that type of arguing, and I try to not engage with it lol
But the way you're telling it does A LOT.
Then again, we can't control how people read comments in their heads.
You can read "This is great." in a happy voice 😄 or a sarcastic voice 😒.
Even a genuine "Why ?" can be read as judgemental.
