I definitely see why this game had such a backlash in Japan. Supposedly to the point that Kai goes out of its way to damage control it, from what people have told me.

Its very obvious that Daybreak 2 was meant to be the prologue and act 1 of Kai, since with proper pacing the prologue, acts 1,2, intermission and key aspects of act 3 and the final chapter all could have been told in that period. Which fits with what Kondo has said about Daybreak 2 in interviews.

Like even with my replay, the only thing that really changed for me in act 3 is I appreciate the themes and concepts that Falcom was trying to tell in act 3. Its just that the execution still leaves a lot to be desired even with Kai's context, along with how poorly Falcom used a certain plot device.

After this part is over, I'll probably like it again tbh. I was mostly positive before act 3.

I think we both really like 2-B? Pretty sure we have similar takes on the Crossbell and Erebonia arcs as a whole. Not sure about Sky, I've never heard you talk about it much.

I adore 3C for Leon and Gotti but outside of that it's dire, especially for Celis. Act 3 is unfortunately where it's most apparent that this game was rushed to fill the 2022 game slot, a lot of it is just either very questionable or plain bad. Didnt bother me much when I played it, but I get you lol
