While there’s some pollution indoors that’s really obvious - smoking, or presence of significant mould - many other pollutants from building materials, furnishing, cooking, cleaning chemicals and personal care products, infectious microbes and ingress of outdoor pollution are less apparent 5/

Yet there’s growing evidence of health effects from indoor air pollutants, and there’s also evidence that a large % of homes and other buildings are poorly ventilated, with energy efficiency measures sometimes making things worse 6/

There are a number of metrics and standards for IAQ that have been proposed, but there’s very little that’s statutory and where there are standards enforcement and monitoring are pretty much non existent. 7/
