It’s a $2.6B dollar industry. This is more than “some kids” and they aren’t getting pulled into the gambling addictions in spite of Valve’s best efforts. Their becoming addicted is the marketing strategy.

It's always weird to me when people take a bullet for a huge megacorporation who would sell them for their components if they could. You should educate yourself on gambling as an actual addiction and the skin economy before making a fool of yourself. You can't babysit someone out of gambling.

Incredibly naive of you. The landscape of gaming is constantly changing and predatory "lootbox" gambling has been masquerading as "just an item in a game" for ages. Parents SHOULD supervise their kids but expecting them to understand insidious underage gambling practices in obscure games is ridic.

I mean, Counter-Strike is rated as ESRB M in the U.S. and as PEGI 18 in Europe. I’m of the belief that parental controls aren’t an excuse nor a replacement for lazy parenting —in this specific context—.
