I also expect bundlers to be with us for the foreseeable future, but for frameworks to feel more similar to each other on this front due to the adoption of Vite and the de facto standardization of the Vite authoring format for frameworks that don't literally adopt Vite.

Google suggests it is not a well-defined term. I wonder if some of it deserves more formal documentation, like the TC39 Tools group is doing here:

In the web toolchain space Vite is gradually taking over webpack's role as the most popular unifying bundler.
Nearly all new frameworks use Vite as their substrate. VC funding is now hardening Vite foundations via the VoidZero company.
