Dear Canadians who don't realize this. You can go to France just off the coast of Newfoundland. The islands of St. Pierre and Miquelon are fabulous! Go there instead of Florida and enjoy France!

I did look into this idea and it looks amazing. I think my family should make it a destination for a reunion. Starting to run the numbers and a travel plan. May end up having my own cross country convoy! There are a lot of very cool places to stay.
There are also a bunch of Francophone islands in the Caribbean. I was born & raised in Dominica, a former French(and British) colony which is now independent. Dominica's neighbors Martinique & Guadeloupe remain departments of France. St. Lucia is bilingual, like Dominica.
They're French, there's even a "St-Pierre et Miquelon" French (France) TV channel. Inhabitants have French passports & don't speak French with a North American accent. France negotiated from Brits to keep those islands, to have fishing rights in the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
Lots of walruses... walrii?... there. I got to visit once, it still FELT like the Newfoundland and Quebec all at once. Saint-Pierre, for all of 5500 folks is as bustly as it is charming
Ok, we just watched the show 'Son of a Critch' on CBC Gem, which is hilarious BTW, and learned thus! We will go when we do our east coast tour. How cool hey?
