do i think any of the above will actually help these sorts of attempts at indoctrination? no, but it’s important to show that this isn’t educational, or rooted in the historical consensus (insofar as there might be one), or reflective of like 2000 years of scholarship.

I consulted for a Texas organization figuring out how to respond to earlier draft of this curriculum, and it's not shoddy scholarship, it's complete fiction. Like the last 100 years of people thinking seriously about the Bible just never happened.

The bible, among other things is a history book, it is the history of the Jewish people and the start of Christianity. It is interesting on that alone. Our kids a dumb, unable to separate fact from fiction, we need more literature of all kinds, not less.

If they teach the Bible as literature and point out logical inconsistencies, It's OK, but then the Bhagavata, Koran, Theravada, Indigenous creation traditions etc. should be taught. Also, children should learn Greek and Hebrew to read the Bible in the original.
