I consulted for a Texas organization figuring out how to respond to earlier draft of this curriculum, and it's not shoddy scholarship, it's complete fiction. Like the last 100 years of people thinking seriously about the Bible just never happened.
yeah, i was 💯 expecting them to say jewish scriptures are about jesus. or spout nonsense about the universality of “judeo-christian values.” funny how no jews talk about those.
the anti-catholic thing is surprising and troubling, too.
was there *any* meaningful response to be made? like, it sounds so bad that just asserting basic facts would take up all the time or space for a response.
As a consultant, my job was to help the organization identify problems so that they could formulate a response. My sense was that they expected the legislature to push it through regardless. It's basically designed to end up in front of the US Supreme Court.
But it's not just about content. The curriculum also comes with ASSIGNMENTS. Imagine being a Jewish or Hindu student having to write an essay on Jesus as God and being graded on whether you write what the curriculum identifies as the correct answer.
We are raising a nation of idiots. Ans sbl should say something because this is literally what they are built to do (unless the decide to be weak like flaccid penises - or erect ones for that matter - let's be real, it's a weak organ unlike pussies which are strong). SBL - be a pussy not a penis.
