People who can’t handle HOAs shouldn’t buy/keep properties in HOA areas. Simple. Nobody ever acknowledges they’re getting the benefits -in higher/more stable property values - by being in an HOA. Benefits come with some burdens.

Do you wear a bib when you lick boots or just go for it and clean up later? HOAs are awful groups run by a bunch of people who peaked in HS as class VP. Fuck 'em.
See, that’s great. Now all you have to do is not buy in an HOA.
And I *love* that now bootlicking is used for people who know more than you do about entirely voluntary, private arrangements. Drains all force from the actual metaphor, but sure! Overuse does that.
Theoretically. We lived in an HOA where upkeep wasn’t done. Property values were lower than outside of the HOA community. Most owners didn’t bother to vote in order to oust the poorly performing board, even though they complained. We sold but still have friends there who say it hasn’t improved.
