And women will need to update their birth certificates to reflect their married name so it matches their passport should they even have one. If the signatures don’t match nothing matters. How much is that ish gonna cost????

A woman using a married name proves she's a citizen with her birth certificate and marriage certificate. I'm sure it's a real pain when there's been a divorce and remarriage. After getting my passport I mentioned to my unmarried daughter that there's no good reason to change our names at marriage.
It IS a pain and I've had just 2 marriages and 1 divorce. It was expensive and time-consuming to gather all the required certified docs. I agree, it's a flat liability to change your birth name for almost any reason now.
You should not be able to update a birth certificate for that purpose. The passport would be enough under that BUT passports are cost-prohibitive for low-income families. And time/travel-prohibitive as well for some hourly working people.
