Don’t need WAPO to tell me. I followed the news at the time. The judge ruled it as rape in that the facts met the State criteria. Facts. But I guess some folks are uncomfortable with Facts. They are happy to go with “alternative facts.” (What sane people refer to as Bull Crap.)
The chances that they would have won the case are the exact reasons to capitulate. ABC probably would be looking at losing their broadcast license with that type of small win.

BBC news coverage is extensive but not particularly in-depth. It has a western establishment bias, and is fairly accurate in this context. For a more comprehensive and overarching world view, take a look at Al Jazeera…..you’ll be surprised what’s missing from the western media coverage of events.

I'm not sure they would have won. He was found liable for sexual abuse and not rape. The statutory definition of rape in New York requires penile penetration and the jury couldn't determine that happened. So while by normal definition he raped her, he didn't meet the legal def in NY.
he definitely "sucked" for that job. he was a judge most of his career, nominated for SCOTUS, even found out he prosecuted the OKC bombing back in the 90's. not a forceful prosecutor here ...why?!

Typically settlement waits til the depositions are done, at least the most important ones. The way Trump speaks, he'd likely admit penetrating the victim's body. Presiding judge used the "r" word for that. But hey, nothing makes sense any more so....
