I just have to recommend “The Kingdom, The Power, and The Glory: America’s Evangelicals in an Age of Extremism” by Tim Alberta.
It’s not a book I would have picked up at a bookstore or had given a second thought about. BUT someone recommended it and I couldn’t put it down.
It really is fascinating.

Also: “Collapse: The Fall of the Soviet Union” by V. M. Zubok.

Both highly recommended books that offer insights and cause rumination beyond just their narrow topics and focus.
