Having another school's goalie should def have worked. One of FHS' girls Kats' classmates plays for LHHS.

As does changing positions. Last year (?) FHS goalie had never played the position before. This is sad.

We are now a 3-girls-in-hockey household and that is super sad. The players make great points in the article. They know their teachers attend the boys’ games and there is more support behind the boys. 💔 My oldest’s team struggles to find a goalie even w free registration and gear for goalies.

Fredericton is lucky to have 2 women's university hockey teams. Having role models is huge.

Fredericton only has 2 women's uni hockey teams cause UNB was forced to reinstate it's women's hockey team after a discrimination suit prevented it from disbanding it's varsity women's team.

I think its important to point that out cause the women of UNB had to fight to keep their team. The university not only wanted to drop the team, they fought the court when told they needed to reinstate the women's team.

Women's hockey in NB has a tough go competing with ringette for skaters and goalies, not having the numbers for rec and comp teams at every age level in every region. High school vs club teams etc. But as an outsider I think it is improving.

I think so too - sadly my area did totally lose ringette between 2019 and now, which is too bad since it also seems like an awesome sport my kids would have liked - but women’s hockey is doing really well, especially in the younger age groups!
