I continue to fail to understand what the point of this is. All an Xbox has ever been is a PC with a specific OS on it. It feels like a race to the bottom and Apple leads the way with making it idiot proof. #Idk

Yeah, if we could just get rid of all of those janky management overlays Asus or Lenovo put on their handhelds and get a sleek XBox-like 'big picture' mode based on a trimmed down Windows build, that would be very nice.

Same reason steam is putting steam OS on non steam decks i imagine. If you get people into your marketplace without needing the take that hit on hardware its a win-win for you.

Steam is not putting SteamOs on non steam decks. They let people download it on PCs. Things like the ROG Ally are essentially small form factor PCs.

I'm not sure what it is you think you're arguing here. But it is what comes installed on the handheld and is also "native". Similarly you can buy a windows 11 version. You can then swap either one after you buy it. And either way it's native. And Steam is allowing it... cause they made the OS.
