Interesting theory?!? Man, if this isn't 100% obviously the case where you live, I gotta move to Austria. Meanwhile, here in Vancouver, thieves run around w battery disc cutters, and you can't leave your bike anywhere longer than to DASH in for groceries while praying it's not stolen.
Ever since Black Lives Matter, and the threat of police budget cuts, the cops are determined to show us how short staffed they are by totally ignoring bike theft and traffic violations, while telling us all we're lucky they still hunt down murderers.
Depends on how you define convenience. If you ride an eBike and can safely store the battery, helmet, and backpack, I'd say it's quite convenient. I agree that safety remains the #1 factor.

Safety and convenience are an ↔️ pair and the nature of the 🎯 defines the weighting. Is there social security and control, time and so on.
This is where the art of bike 🅿️ begins.
