1. Frederiksen didn’t change the immigration position of the Danish Social Democrats (A). They were already running nativist campaigns well before her.

2. Frederiksen didn’t win electoral support with her even more nativist campaign in 2019, A actually LOST 0.4% of the vote.

The only reason she won politically, is (was) the block politics of Denmark, which is quite specific to the region.

3. A did win in 2022, but probably much more because of their COVID-19 policies than their nativist policies — which were punished in cities in local elections.

4. A currently polls at 23%, which would mean their worst score since… 1915!!! 👏

5. The only reason she stayed in office in 2022 was that she switched coalition partners, breaking block politics, and governing with the right — helped by a common right-wing conservative agenda.

6. And, finally, despite 25 years of deeply nativist politics, in which the far right and nativism became completely mainstreamed and normalized, the (combined) far right still polls at 15% today!
