Felt like (and feels moreso with hindsight) that Asensio was the realistic move - attainable, cheaper (no loan fee), immediate depth (F9, 10, RW), knock on effects (Ethan + Trossard, Gabi focus on LW/RW, less 9/10 gaps). Honestly that's the one specific move that feels frustrating to have passed on.

not cheaper - on 250k per week. similar to Morata, losing the battle to father time. positionally versatile which Morata doesn't offer, but similarly taking 10-20 minutes off players here and there until Apr 1 when he becomes number 6 in the pecking order like he was at PSG. more room at Villa

always potential for setbacks. then you get into the slippery slope of "my guy is recovering from an injury but set to return shortly after this transfer period. should i buy cover just in case" for a huge proportion of injuries
