Anecdotally, I heard today that a large employer near me is planning 500+ layoffs this month (not yet announced publicly). It’s a manufacturer that is directly impacted by the tariffs. In bright Red Trump territory.

Damn, that sucks. Virginia has already lost the Smithfield factory. Though tbh I feel a little less sympathy for people down there when I’m surrounded by feds losing jobs in NoVa. The vibes up here are bleak.
And all of the federal workers losing their jobs in northern Virginia will directly affect the rest of the state because losing that income tax revenue will hurt our schools and other services.
At this point i only feel empathy for federal workers who are not maga voters, hell republicans in general. Since this was gop wet dream for decades. And if you voted for this, thoughts & prayers you lose everything.
And honestly, let’s do that part faster, because it would be super awesome if the federal workforce didn’t *entirely* disperse and things stabilize even a tiny bit after the midterms.
T administration is awful at keeping track of people, but state unemployment offices should have the data in 3 weeks (to do with terms for applying). States should be glad to get them reinstated. Schedule F patronage hiring needs to go.
