It's one of those occasions where I have to remind myself that not everyone is a nerd about imaging processes. I think there's a lack of awareness of how much and how fast the chemistry of photos changed, so people conflate daguerrotype exposure times with silver-nitrate times.

In the 1870's cats would often freeze and remain motionless for several minutes at at time while firmware updates downloaded over the remarkably slow WiFi available at the time.
