Remember when The History Channel got tired of being called "The Hitler Channel" because they ran history we have video of? So they started using old B&W silent film clips of Roman chariot races etc. And people thought it was real.

The "but it's cute" defense is especially egregious when someone is talking to me because... well... I've put a great deal of time and effort into amassing a free, accessible, online, pretty big archive of authentic cute cat history. There's plenty of it. No need for supplemental lies at all.
